What Our Guests Say About Staying at The Lookout Tower

The Lookout Tower - Beer Head

There is something undeniably magical about The Lookout Tower. Perched high on the Jurassic Coast between Beer and Branscombe, it continues to leave a lasting impression on every guest who stays. Rather than tell you ourselves, here is what our visitors have shared in their own words.

A Magical Coastal Escape

“What an amazing spot we walked by and saw the website so booked for mid Feb. The attention to detail leaves nothing for you to think about, views are stunning accommodation beautiful and very warm in mid winter a short walk to Beer and Branscombe. 3 days was not enough sauna, telescope and a lift. A beautiful place in a magical spot.”

Guests consistently tell us that the setting, the comfort and the care put into every detail make their stay unforgettable.

Thoughtful Hospitality and Unmatched Views

One of our most heartfelt reviews comes from Ruth and her family, who stayed with elderly parents and experienced the tower from every angle.

“The Lookout Tower in its spectacular, glorious, off the beaten track coastal location is fabulous. Under the same ownership as Beer Head Caravan Park but an individual, luxurious, historic building standing alone on the cliff top. Peaceful, immaculate, meticulously appointed and designed, comfortable, contemporary, cosy, unique, stunning and welcoming. From the moment we booked our questions were promptly answered and nothing was too much trouble.

We holidayed with my elderly parents (My mother is 92 and my father has Parkinsons). They had additional requirements that the lovely owner Rob attended to so thoughtfully. Before our holiday he even sent video footage of how things could be arranged to best suit their needs. On arrival we were welcomed by Rob (and a lovely cream tea and treats) who showed us around and supplied lots of information about the building and its history.

The internal lift was not only fun but enabled my parents to easily access every floor and fully experience every breathtaking view. We were pleased to find on arrival the convenience of a second loo in the sauna building as there is one bathroom within the Tower. We were blessed with fine weather in early September and whilst my parents soaked up the incredible views and tranquility my husband and I walked sections of the stunning South West Coastal Path directly from the Lookout Tower. Dinner from the balcony as the sun was setting was pretty special too.

We were also impressed with the local villages. The coast and countryside particularly Beer and Branscombe are beautiful and within easy reach. We had a terrific break and constantly remarked on the beauty of the surroundings and the care and attention to detail lavished on this newly renovated building.

We hope to return and wouldn't hesitate to highly recommend this special holiday destination.”

Thank you Rob and team.

Ruth and family.

Their words echo what many guests notice: the privacy, the tranquillity and the ability to enjoy the coast at their own pace. Beautifully Renovated, Thoughtfully Equipped. Many visitors highlight the comfort and quality of the renovation:

High-Spec Comfort with Incredible Views

We have just spent 4 nights at the LOOKOUT TOWER! It was amazing 🤩…. It has been beautifully renovated and fitted out to a high spec; with underfloor heating, pneumatic lift, WiFi oven and dishwasher, coffee machine, air fryer, wood burner and much more! It is very comfortable with incredible views all along the coast line. Communication was good prior to booking and during our stay. The bottles of fizz, chocolates and the cream tea were much appreciated. Highly recommend. Thank you Rob and family. 😊

Relaxation, Luxury and Coastline Views

Our stay at the Lookout Tower was just lovely, it is a very special place. The welcome hamper and bottle of bubbly was an added luxury in making the long weekend stay relaxing, welcoming and enjoyable. Having a sauna on site was such a treat, which added to our pampering weekend of beautiful views in a very beautiful place. Highly recommend. Thank you””

A Stay Unlike Any Other

For Lauren and Billy, the tower created memories hard to match:

“Our weekend at The Lookout Tower was extraordinary and unlike any other holiday we have ever had. Unmatched in its location, the views were breath taking with the most scenic Jurassic coast walks quite literally on our doorstep.

Our favourite part to the weekend would either be sitting on the very top level watching a storm come in from the sea whilst drinking wine with friends or sitting out on the balcony watching the sun rise over the cliffs in the morning.”

A Unique Place to Stay on the East Devon Coast

David captures the spirit of The Lookout Tower perfectly:

*The Lookout Tower is situated at the highest point on the coastal path between Beer and Branscombe, one of the best sections of the East Devon coastal path. The tower offers a unique, self catering property which has been renovated to an incredibly high standard and has the “Wow” factor. The attention to detail and the luxurious accommodation will amaze you. The views from the lounge at the top of the tower are breathtaking, which can be enjoyed at the picnic table on the first floor balcony adjacent to the kitchen area. There is no light pollution and on a clear night the sky is wonderful, which can be investigated using the provided telescope. The sauna is a really lovely bonus. The nearby caravan park has a lovely Bistro if you don’t want to cook and the owners couldn’t be more helpful and welcoming. If you’re looking for a really special place to spend a few days, then the Lookout must be considered.”

Peaceful, Beautiful and Wonderfully Restored

And finally, Deb sums up what many feel as soon as they arrive:

““Wonderful, peaceful and unique place to stay. Beautifully restored, really well equipped with spectacular views, particularly from the tower. Great for cliff walks to lovely pubs and handy for local beaches but with a wine fridge, games table and rugs in the tower, who would ever need to move!”

– Deb
